In The Psych Effect, Drs Stephane Degraff & Dmitry Byk trade their white coats for t-shirts, shorts, and sneakers to unpack societal issues and human behavior through the phenomenon of sports. Commenting on everyday news with the intention of shedding light on the human behavior in professional athletes, public figures, and newsmakers they will attempt to demystify the stigma attached to mental health. The struggle these public figures go through will be put into context, while maintaining an open discussion on the nexus between the human psyche and the demands of the ever so enormous sports industry and the impact on today’s society. In sports, as a metaphor for life, we can find all the good in human kind as we push our brain and body capacity to their maximum potential, or perhaps the very worst of our vices. The challenge this podcast faces is to bring levity, lightheartedness, and easygoing conversations to a serious topic in the world today in the hopes of better educating us on the impact it is having.
